U.S. House Passes Financial CHOICE Act

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Financial CHOICE Act by a 232-186 generally along party lines. The bill, introduced by House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), is aimed at rolling back and reforming parts of the Dodd-Frank Act, as well as providing regulatory relief for financial institutions across the country.

The IBA applauds the House for passing this important relief bill, and thanks the Illinois delegation members who voted “Yes” today on the House floor. We also appreciate the efforts of bankers across the State of Illinois who participated in our letter writing campaign to House members, urging our lawmakers to support regulatory reform for Illinois banks and their customers.
