We are currently offering a 0%, 90 day single pay loan of up to $5,000 to current customers who are government employees that have been affected by the shutdown.

Bank & Trust Company
Bank & Trust Company, headquartered in Litchfield Il with offices in Sangamon, Macoupin and Montgomery Counties is offering low interest, payroll gap loans to its direct deposit furloughed federal employees in amounts up to $5,000. Bank of America
We know the partial federal government shutdown is affecting many of our clients and have taken a number of actions to provide immediate relief. Many clients have already been in contact with us and found that we were able to assist them with their particular situations.
As we always do in these types of situations, our Client Assistance Program is readily available for financial assistance tailored to their specific needs. We have a priority assistance phone line that clients can contact at 844.219.0690 staffed with our employees specifically prepared to help clients in need of assistance. We consider each client’s Checking, Credit Card, Auto, and Home Loan needs individually and we will waive, refund, or adjust fees as necessary or appropriate.
For these clients we have available:
- Credit cards with limited time zero percent interest on cash direct deposits and retail transactions. Payment deferrals with no late fees and no delinquency reporting for payments not made during the deferral period
- Auto loan payment deferrals for two months with no late fees and no delinquency reporting for payments not made during the deferral period
- Mortgage and home equity payment deferrals for three months with no late fees and no credit bureau reporting during the deferral period
Again, many clients have already availed themselves of this program and obtained assistance and relief. And, of course, personalized assistance is available in any of our financial centers.
Earlier this week, Bank of America also pledged $10,000 to the United Way National Capital Area Emergency Assistance Fund. The funds will be directed to organizations in the region that will help residents impacted by the furlough, providing vital food, rent and utility assistance programs.
Finally, as the shutdown continues, we will revisit the above as is necessary.
BMO Harris is also working to help minimize the impact of the government shutdown on our customers. We’re providing assistance in a variety of ways, including the reversal of certain fees for customers directly impacted by the shutdown, in addition to the following:
- Personal loan program with three months of deferred payments
- Payment deferrals and loan modifications
- Waiving all late fees, including credit card fees
- Deposit account fee waivers
- Reversal of overdraft fees

Chase Bank will automatically waive or refund overdraft and monthly service fees on Chase checking and savings accounts if an employee’s salary from an affected federal agency was direct-deposited into the account in November 2018. Additionally, Chase encourages its customers to call the special care line (1-888-356-0023) to discuss certain hardship programs if they are employees of, or do business with, a U.S. federal agency and their income is affected by the shutdown.
CIBC Bank USA

CIBC Bank USA has 19 Chicago-area location and additional banking centers in Milwaukee, St. Louis and Birmingham (Mich.). CIBC is waiving overdraft fees, late loan payment fees and Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC) annual fees for current clients impacted by the government shutdown. Additionally, we are offering an unsecured personal loan with an expedited loan approval process for current clients who are federal employees or contractors affected by the government shutdown. Finally, we will work with current clients to discuss hardship programs and how we may be able to assist at this time.

For any existing Home State Bank customer who is a government employee that has been affected by the shutdown, we will provide a 30-day interest free loan for an amount equal to one month’s net pay. Peoples Bank & Trust
Peoples Bank & Trust has established a loan fund available to Christian, Coles, Effingham, Fayette, Greene, Macoupin, Montgomery, Morgan, Sangamon and Shelby County residents adversely affected by the government shutdown. The loans are for the purpose of assisting with personal, family or household expenses. The loan program will be effective for the remainder of January and February. Each loan will be limited to $750, be payable in 6 to 12 months, have limited underwriting and have no interest or fees.

U.S. Bank announced a new low-rate, quick loan product designed to help customers who are federal employees needing special assistance during the U.S. government shutdown.
Beginning Jan. 11, qualified federal government employees can apply for a $100-$6,000 low-rate, quick loan. It is available to customers with any U.S. Bank product, including mortgage and auto loans or U.S. Bank credit cards. "U.S. Bank is committed to doing the right thing for our customers,” said Andy Cecere, chairman, president and CEO of U.S. Bank. “We understand the financial pressure that many of our customers who serve our nation are now facing and we’re here to help.”
Customers are encouraged to contact our designated federal government shutdown line at 877.760.6046 to speak with a customer service representative about this product and other customer assistance programs that may be available, including mortgage relief options.
Wells Fargo Bank

In response to the federal government shutdown, Wells Fargo has established a new customer assistance line (800-219-9739) where impacted customers can be connected with a team member who can assist based on their needs. Customers can also visit any Wells Fargo branch. Available relief may include fee waivers and reversals on select deposit services and loan products, as well as payment assistance on various credit products. Information is also available on the company’s website at the government shutdown assistance page and in this new release.
Wintrust will waive overdraft fees on deposit accounts as well as late fees on consumer loans, forgive early-withdrawal penalties on certificates of deposit, expedite processing of loan applications, and discuss other options with customers impacted by the government shutdown. Impacted customers are encouraged to get in touch with their local Wintrust bankers.
Special Assistance During the Current Government Shutdown
A list of Illinois banks is being sent to policymakers and the media detailing which banks are offering special assistance during the current government shutdown. If your bank should be on this list, please take a moment to tell us:
