State and Federal Government Relations
The IBA is the premier government relations association representing the banking industry in Illinois. Our seasoned government relations team with over 110 years of combined legislative and political experience is considered to be one of the best in the Statehouse. The IBA advocates the value of Illinois’ banking industry by initiating, negotiating and lobbying for progressive and innovative legislation, and by opposing hundreds of measures that are harmful to the banking industry every year.

What The IBA Does For You:

  • Researches industry issues and solicits input from Illinois bankers;
  • Works with the Government Relations Committee to help formulate agenda and policy issues;
  • Initiates, analyzes and tracks thousands of legislative proposals;
  • Writes and circulates industry “position papers” to Illinois legislators and their staffs;
  • Testifies before legislative committees and lobbies on industry position
  • Organizes the Annual Springfield Lobby Day, and Annual Washington Visit - bringing bankers together with our state’s elected officials and federal banking regulators;
  • Attends hundreds of legislative fundraisers in an ongoing effort to open lines of communication; and
  • Works with regulators by discussing industry issues and by submitting dozens of comprehensive comment letters on regulatory issues under review

ILLINOIS BANKPAC
The political action committee of the IBA. It is the largest PAC devoted to state and federal candidates and elected officials who support the interests of the banking industry. ILLINOIS BANKPAC maximizes our strength and keeps our industry’s voice at the forefront of the political process. What is ILLINOIS BANKPAC all about?

IBA Contact Banker Program
This program is an effective ongoing grassroots communications system between bankers and their state and federal legislators to ensure the banking industry is “heard” in Springfield and in Washington. This important program allows the IBA to identify which bankers would be willing to communicate with their elected officials during a time when action is needed on a legislative proposal in Springfield or in Washington. Relationships and personal communication is the most effective means of communicating in the political arena!
