Contact Banker Program

Grassroots is Critical to our Industry’s Success!
Every legislative session, decisions are made by lawmakers that affect your bank and shape the competitive landscape in which you must operate. Participation in the Illinois Contact Banker Network and the ABA’s Direct Contact Banker program is one of the most important investments you can make in your bank’s future, and the future of the banking industry.

Join the Illinois Contact Banker Network
The Illinois Contact Banker Network allows the Illinois Bankers Association to intensify our efforts by developing, maintaining and building personal relationships between bankers and their state legislators, while creating an effective communications link to ensure that Illinois bankers are heard in Springfield. Preview the program

Once you register as a Contact Banker, you will receive the IBA's Week In Review, which includes the most current government relations news. You also will be given opportunities to attend legislative meetings to discuss current banking issues with your local legislators. When necessary, you will be alerted to important state issues so that you can effectively communicate your thoughts about these issues to your local legislators. We will ask you to contact legislators only when it is critical. To help you make your communications simple, we will provide background information on key issues, tips on letter writing and talking points "for" or "against" each issue for use in your contacts.

Join the ABA’s Federal Direct Contact Banker Program
The ABA’s Direct Contact Banker program is designed to leverage relationships that local bank presidents have (or should have) with elected federal officials to educate them on the effects that legislation can have on the banking industry and their local constituents. This program will serve as the front line for the banking industry. With 19 U.S. Representatives elected from Illinois, and two U.S. Senators, it is important to have strong ties to every Illinois delegate in Congress, and Direct Contact Bankers are among the first to be called into action.
